Food for Thought was completed for The Eddie Adams Workshop XXXIV. This year’s theme was ‘transformations’ and I chose to show the transformation of the chicken from a living being to food. It was remarkable to me that in the poultry shop where the chickens were being killed the staff was hesitant to be photographed, while at the rotisserie shop (Inca Chicken) the staff was more than happy to show their faces. Thus the transformation is not limited to the chicken going from an animal to food for another, but is also one of emotions, from the shame of killing, to the pride of feeding.
